With Mac OS X it is now possible to make filenames with up to 256 characters. The classic Mac OS can not display more than 31 characters.
If you now make filenames with over 31 characters, the will be displayed under classic OS like "this_filename_is_to_lo#5A0B9.jpg".
To avoid that and not to count all filnema characters "by hand" I made this little tool.
"Wonderful program. As soon as I moved over to X a few months ago I quickly realized that I needed something like Classic31 1.2 because I am sharing files with other users that are not up to X yet. I tried Classic and I like the user interface and it does simplify the task of making sure filenames are within spec. "
MacPeople magazine is a semi-weekly Macintosh magazine published in Japan. They wrote an article about Classic31 1.2 in Japanese.
